TO: Judge Christine Engustian of the Richmond Probate Court and her managers,

The Town Council of Richmond, Rhode Island.

Ms. Rita Cole, 90, resident of Cincinnati, OH, conscripted into guardianship in Rhode Island, Case No. 2016-15 had a net worth of $225,000 in May 2016 when attorney R.J. Connelly, III involuntarily conscripted her into guardianship.

Rita was in Rhode Island visiting family and had Connelly modify her estate documents where he gained access to all her critical estate documents.  Judge Engustian granted guardianship to Connelly even though Rita was not a resident of Rhode Island, Connelly had no physician’s certificate, no notice was provided family, and nobody was allowed to object, including Rita.

Rita was taken from her niece’s home three days later and committed to a locked down facility and heavily drugged.  She has been allowed only limited visitation from family and friends since.  All visits are chaperoned and Rita’s estate is charged thousands to arrange each visit and over $150/hour for chaperones, including a lawyer.

Connelly’s attorney, his partner Alan Barnes, and the court investigator (guardian ad litem) Henry Boezi, III have all supported Connelly’s claims and actions.  More than half of Rita’s estate has been spent by Connelly, $125,000 in 10 months, and he has petitioned the court to sell her condo in Cincinnati.

Mary Bender of Cincinnati, the original durable power of attorney and now limited co-guardian of the person, and long-time friend of Rita continues to object to the court’s action but Judge Engustian continues to deny all objections and support Rita’s continued isolation and fleecing by Connelly.
